Are you tired of breaking wrong solderable joints of miniature COTS sensors intended for mobile phone markets over and over and want finally to get your own uninterrupted access to magnetic field and tumbling rate data from space? The piMAGGYRO is a World's First Space-Friendly Non Deployable Tri-axial Digital CubeSat Magnetometer and Gyroscope with Telemetry Engine designed to provide in-situ magnetic field measurements in orbit, together with angular rate sensing at ~760 m spatial resolution. Bx, By, Bz, Bt and ωx, ωy, ωz magnetic field and angular rate components respectively are provided at 10 Hz update rate, together with the unit temperature, input voltage and uptime sampling in 100 ms steps by the internal timestamping.

+/- 300 μT range of magnetic field per axis with 6 nT resolution and 35 nTrms noise (total vector) is processed via dedicated DSP routine. +/- 250°/s angular rotation speed range with 1°/s steps makes the piMAGGYRO especially suitable for Geomagnetic field measurements and safety precautions for the free flying satellites, docking systems, large booms, solar sails, solar wing panels or active ADCS and/or propulsion equipped satellites, with no deployables needed. In order to perform the "science-grade" measurements, a special magnetic cleanliness over the system design of the satellite is highly recommended.

Accurate measurements about the satellite tumbling and local magnetic field in orbit is performed using centered electronics encapsulated in non-magnetic aluminum housing, mounted carefully within the satellite body. Each vector component, signum (direction) and timestamp is sent in a fixed length manner over the UART interface at 115 200 bps, making the use of human readable values Easy to Interpret & Reconstruct on ground.

Furthermore, the unit can activate OVERFLUX Alarm, OVERRATE Alarm and ERROR signals in order to inform the upper level system available through GPIO interface pins within 25 ms reaction time about artificially disturbed Geomagnetic field (local magnetic field disturbance via MTQs, current surges, motors, etc.), too dangerous tumbling rate for most of the satellites in orbit (after the propellant leak, micrometeoroid impact, aero drag, deployable mechanism activation, Geomagnetic synchronization lock, etc.) or about exceeding the expected sensor data ranges or unexpected space events (the ERROR signal).
